This is the first stage of the construction of the Trans-Sulawesi railway line which is the first railway line in Sulawesi. The process of laying the first stone for the construction of the Makassar–Parepare railway line was carried out on Monday, 18 August 2014 in Siawung Village, Barru District, Barru Regency.
